Swemko the knife people have a new member of the team.
Thomas Medd has joined the family business established in 1975.
Ray Medd and founder of Swemko UK has stated that “when I started the business the main aim was to make the business a success without consideration of future generations, watching my son grow in the company and now my Grandson makes me very proud. The Printing industry was good to me over the years and although it’s a much tougher market today Swemko has changed so much from my day I’m sure he has a good future ahead of him”.
Thomas stated “It’s a great opportunity to work for the family business. Knowing the history of Swemko from my grandad and the many stories I hear from around the dinner table has interested me from a young age. Working for dad has its pro’s and con’s, but hopefully working closely with him I can learn from his experience, and develop within the company”.
Dave Medd has stated “ it is great having Tom on board in the business, we are a close family and were lucky we still enjoy each others company.
He now has the hard work of gaining experience which you cannot just learn from a book but he has been around the business for some time even during school holidays and so he has a good insight into what is happening and what is expected. He has to start at the bottom and work his way through the company understanding and being able to fulfil each roll which will make him ultimately a good Managing Director.
